Abstract

In today's competitive landscape, researcher need to be recognized. Researcher profiles or author identifiers are a solution. Theses profiles often connected to an online profile to increase the visibility of their works, also ensure that their identity and their research have not been confused with other researchers with same names. By using researcher profiles, authors can build their online presence and create a persistent author identifier, increase their research impact, track and measure the impact of their research. Authors can keep their name and affiliations updated

These profiles can categorize into (1-7):

  1. Engine profiles such as Google Scholar Citations and Microsoft Academic.
  2. Indexing Database based Author identifiers such as Scopus Author Identifier (Elsevier), Researcher ID on Publons (Clarivate).
  3. Author identifiers such as Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID), Semantic scholar.
  4. Social networks for researchers such as Research Gate, Academia.edu.
